Education

Today's transportation professional must combine the technical skills of engineering and planning with a knowledge of economics, environmental science, management, finance, and law as well as negotiation skills, psychology and sociology. And, she/he must be computer literate, wired to the web, and knowledgeable about advances in information technology. UTRC’s education and training efforts provide a multidisciplinary program of course work and experiential learning to train students and provide advanced training or retraining of practitioners to plan and manage regional transportation systems.

UTRC has a variety of fellowship, internship, and research programs for graduate students; and employment opportunities for students at all levels. UTRC also supports ongoing efforts in transportation curriculum development; internet and distance learning; training for transit workers and transportation professionals; and a summer institute for high school students.

UTRC’s consortium members have many excellent programs in transportation at all levels of study. Many of these can be found via our "where to study" page.
