Dr. Kim has more than 15 years of industry experience in engineering, design and analysis of a wide variety of structural engineering problems. Before joining Manhattan College in 2014, he was a project manager (PM), a deputy PM, and a lead engineer for various engineering projects with Parsons Brinckerhoff in New York.

As part of his doctorate research, he has performed numerous non-linear simulations for aluminum structures and verified his research through experiments. His research findings were incorporated in the 2005, 2010 and 2015 versions of Specification for Aluminum Structures (US) and published in peer reviewed journal papers.

Dr. Kim’s interests include analysis of aluminum & cold-formed steel structures; blast and dynamic impact analysis for security structures; flood resistant design subjected to hurricanes and other natural disasters; database assisted design (DAD) for wind loads.
