Transportation - Trouble Ahead

Dear Transportation Stakeholder:

I am pleased to provide you with a copy of Transportation – Trouble Ahead, the report of the New York State Advisory Panel on Transportation Policy for 2025. The University Transportation Research Center (UTRC) was pleased to provide staff support to this distinguished Panel of twelve citizens. The findings and recommendations of the Panel are the result of extensive hearings held across the State. As a person interested in the State transportation system, I am sure you will find this report of value.

The Panel was convened by New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) Commissioner Joseph H. Boardman in June, 2004 to help the State prepare a State Transportation Master Plan, which is under development by NYSDOT. Upon receipt of the Panel’s report, Commissioner Boardman issued a Statement which is available on the NYSDOT website for your use.

The State’s transportation system is vital to our economy and quality of life. The Panel considers the findings and recommendations in their report to be a starting point. Comprehensive planning and legislative action must follow. The Panel is prepared to contribute to these efforts and would welcome your support.
