Penny Eickemeyer is the Associate Director for Research. Penny's role is to assist with the administration of research. Her responsibilities will include review of project proposals, monitoring project progress, and submission of quarterly progress reports. In this regard, she hopes to enhance communication between groups of PIs with similar transportation research interests as well as between UTRC and the various agencies serving as the project sponsors. Penny has experience with commuter railroads, having worked about eight years with Metro-North Railroad. Her work there included capital planning and market research. She has a master’s degree in city and regional planning from Harvard University and a BA degree from Rutgers University.
Matthew Daus was appointed by former Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani and unanimously confirmed by the New York City Council on August 22, 2001 as the tenth Commissioner/Chairman of the New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC). On July 23, 2003, Commissioner Daus was reappointed to a seven (7) year term by Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg and the New York City Council, which expired on January 31, 2010. Mr. Daus is the longest serving Chairman in TLC history, serving for 8 ½ years as Chief Executive Officer as well as counsel for a combined total of 14 years at the agency. Prior to his tenure as Commissioner/Chair of the TLC, Mr. Daus served as General Counsel to the Commission and Deputy Commissioner for Legal Affairs since 1998, and before that, as Special Counsel to the TLC Chairperson.
Alison Conway is a Professor of Civil Engineering at the City College of New York. She conducts research primarily in the areas of urban freight and city logistics and multi-modal interactions in the urban environment. She is the Deputy Director of the Center for Social and Economic Mobility for People and Communities through Transportation (SEMPACT), the USDOT-designated Regional University Transportation Center for Region 2. She is also an Associate Director of Center for Understanding Future Travel Behavior and Demand (TBD), a USDOT-designated National University Transportation Center.
Dr. Robert Paaswell is the Director Emeritus of UTRC. He directed UTRC since 1990 and has left UTRC to serve as the Interim President of the City College of New York from October 15, 2009 to August 2, 2010. Dr. Paaswell has been involved in transportation operations, management and planning since the late 1960s. During the period 1967-1968, he helped write the Model Cities transportation program for Buffalo, N.Y. One significant result of this program was the initiation and operation of a demand response service for the elderly in the model city area.
Camille Kamga is Director of the University Transportation Research Center. In that role he works closely with federal, regional and state transportation planning and policy organizations. He has more than twelve years of experience working on transportation related projects at UTRC. He has been involved in research projects for the New Jersey Department of Transportation, the New York State Department of Transportation, the New York City Department of Transportation, and Transit agencies. He holds a Certificate in Database Management from New York University since 2000.
