Ya Wang

Dr. Wang’s research interests span a broad range of topics in the fields of adaptive and multifunctional structures with integrated wireless sensing, energy harvesting and dynamic control using smart materials. Dr. Wang's work has resulted in at least 32 peer-reviewed scientific articles published in leading international journals and conference proceedings. Notably, she has been the first author and corresponding author of the majority of these publications and presentations. The dissemination of Dr. Wang’s scientific works has established her as an outstanding researcher and influential authority in this area of study. In recognition of her expertise,

Dr. Wang has been called upon by scientific journals and conferences at least 30 times to serve as a judge of the work of other researchers and provide peer-review of manuscripts submitted for publication. Dr. Wang won the 2012 Student Best Hardware Award at the 2012 ASME conference on Smart Materials, Adaptive Structures and Intelligent Systems for the paper titled “Experimental Validation of Simultaneous Gust Alleviation and Energy Harvesting for Multifunctional Composite Wing Spar”. She has an Invited Feature Article for the Journal of the American Ceramic Society, 2013. She is a member of ASME, IEEE, AIAA and SPIE, and serves as an elected member of technical committees of ASME Aerospace Division, Adaptive Structures and Material Systems Branch. She has been a Conference Session Chair for SPIE Smart Structures/NDE 2012 and SPIE Smart Structures/NDE 2013 conferences. Furthermore, she has made significant advancements in writing proposals and guiding students.
