Telecommuting from the NYNEX Satellite Work Center at Mineola, Long Island

The Mineola Satellite Work Center study is the second telecommuting study conducted by NYNEX and New York Metropolitan Transportation Council (NYMTC). A study to examine the impact of telecommuting from home was completed in early 1993. The second study, conducted by University Transportation Research Center (UTRC), NYMTC and NYNEX examined a shift in work sites from Manhattan, Brooklyn and White Plains to Mineola for one or more days per week. Mineola is located in Nassau County, Long Island which is 17 miles from central Manhattan. Seventy-five NYNEX workers were selected randomly by the human resource department with the requirement that they live within a 10- 15 mile radius of the Satellite Work Center (SWC).
