Principal Investigators

Dr. William Solecki

Solecki’s research focuses on urban environmental change, resilience, and adaptation transitions. He currently is a Professor within the Department of Geography at Hunter College-City University of New York. From 2006-2014, he served as the Director of the CUNY Institute for Sustainable Cities at Hunter College. He also served as interim Director of the Science and Resilience Institute at Jamaica Bay. He has co-lead several climate impacts studies in the greater New York and New Jersey region, including the New York City on Panel on Climate Change (NPCC).

Dr. Tarek Saadawi

TAREK N. SAADAWI received the B.Sc. and the M.Sc. from Cairo University Egypt in 1973 and 1975 respectively and the Ph.D. from the University of Maryland, College Park in 1980 (all in Electrical Engineering). Since 1980 he has been with the Electrical Engineering Department, The City University of New York, City College where he currently directs the Center of Information Networking and Telecommunications (CINT) and a Professor teaching courses in Network security, computer networks, local area network, communications systems and information theory.

Dr. Laxmi Ramasubramanian

Dr. Laxmi Ramasubramanian is an Associate Professor of Planning and Design at Hunter College. She is a registered architect in her home country, India, and a certified planner (AICP). She is a member of the doctoral faculty in the Geography Program and the Environmental Psychology Program at The Graduate Center, the doctorate-granting institution of the City University of New York. In 2009, Anna University, Chennai, India appointed her as a Visiting Professor. Dr. Ramasubramanian seeks to inform and transform planning practice in order to create a just and equitable society.

Dr. Jonathan R. Peters

Jonathan R. Peters is a professor of finance in the Business Department at The College of Staten Island of The City University of New York and a Research Fellow at The University Transportation Research Center at The City College of New York. He received his Ph.D. in Economics from the City University of New York and his Masters in Economics from Hunter College.

Dr. Matthew G. Nagler

Dr. Matthew G. Nagler is a Professor in the Department of Economics and Business at the City College of New York. He also holds an affiliate appointment with the Graduate Center at the City University of New York and is an Academic Affiliate of the White House Social and Behavioral Sciences Team. Prior to his current position, he was an Associate Professor of Economics and Business at City College and the Graduate Center and, previous to that, an Assistant Professor of Economics and Business Administration at Lehman College (City University of New York).

Dr. William Milczarski

Professor Milczarski served as the Director of the Graduate Program in Urban Planning from 1996 to 2006. He has held visiting professorships at Rutgers University, Columbia University, and the Institute for Urban Planning at The University of Paris. A substantial portion of his research career was devoted to the analysis of fair housing issues using data collected under the US Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA). He co-authored several studies based on that data for the National Community Reinvestment Coalition.
